7 great places to do with water at the Belgian Coast
We all know about the sea, but did you know there are plenty of other nice spots to discover at the Belgian Coast?
What about a nice picnic, for example, an energising walk or even a little boat trip? Experience the Coast in a different way for a change in one of these great places.
We’re here with some suggestions already!
1. Nieuwpoort - The Koolhofput
Originally dug to supply sand for the Jabbeke-Veurne-Calais A18 motorway, the basin has become the perfect place for man and animal alike, with lots of water birds and fish spending their time here, so they’re ready to spot from the huts or walking paths. Or what about a nice spring picnic on the bank?
2. Koksijde - Rent a boat
If you enjoy the peace and quiet of the water, then renting an electric boat for a leisurely trip along the Nieuwpoort-Dunkirk Canal is definitely for you. Go out only for an hour or take some food with you and make a day out of it, why not?
3. Blankenberge - De Fonteintjes nature area
4. Oostende - The Maria Hendrika park
5. Zeebrugge en Knokke-Heist - Spotting seals on the Western Scheldt
6. Knokke-Heist - Lakeside Paradise
If you want to get active, then definitely pay a visit to water sports club Lakeside Paradise by the Duinenwatermeer for some paddle boarding, surfing, sailing, kiting and kayaking to get that adrenaline flowing.
7.Nieuwpoort - The Spaarbekken
Due to the corona crisis, opening hours and timetables may vary. If in doubt, it is best to contact the entrepreneur himself.
