Tips for kids
There’s lots to see and do at the Belgian seaside that will please young and old alike, so your children won’t only be able to play their little hearts out on the wonderful beaches, there’s lots of other adventure to be had too! Like all the events this summer or all the places you can visit. Anyway, they won’t get bored, and that’s a promise!
1. Oostende - Rikki at the seaside treasure hunt
Can you find all of Rikki’s friends? He’s on holiday in Ostend just like you! So get your free treasure hunt from the Ostend Tourist Board and who knows, maybe you’ll get a nice surprise when you get back with all the right answers. Fun guaranteed!
2. Oostende - The Big Slide
If your children are always in for a bit more adventure, then their adrenaline will definitely start flowing when they speed down this 150m-long pop-up water slide.
3. Zeebrugge - Film on the beach
Watch a great film with your feet tucked in the warm sand. Completely free! That’s every Thursday from 1 July to 31 August. Children’s animation film at 2.30 pm, youth film at 4.30 pm and the main film at 8 pm.
4. De Panne - Hoeve Paepehof petting zoo
5. Oostduinkerke - OoDeeKay Skatepark
If your children are dying to brush up on their skateboarding skills, they just have to pay a visit to Oostduinkerke’s Skateplaza, because it’s the size of two football pitches and one of the best in Belgium and the Netherlands!
6.Middelkerke - Missie Middelkerke and the Jommeke cycling route
The newest Jommeke comic strip, entitled Missie Middelkerke plays in... what do you think? Middelkerke of course! Take it along when you go to the beach for the afternoon or get active and cycle the 20km Jommeke route with the family!
7.Westende - Pedal go-cart course at the Rauschenbergplein

9. Knokke-Heist - Children’s entertainment
During the summer holidays, Knokke-Heist puts on free children’s entertainment every Wednesday afternoon at the Heldenplein, with magicians, clowns, children’s disco and lots more. And of course the parents can come along too!
10. Blankenberge - Music & children’s entertainment at the port
In Blankenberge, Mondays are best, because on 3, 17, 31 July and 14 August, there’s lots of free children’s entertainment, including bouncy castles!
11.Wenduine - Baai-Baai family festival
If you’re looking to fill your weekend with lots of fun, then come to the Rotonde in Wenduine on 22 and 23 July for bouncy castles, a comic strip village, etc. Even Belgian children’s channel Ketnet will drop by on its summer tour on Sunday!
12.Nieuwpoort - De Lenspolder petting zoo
Take a wonderful walk, come and enjoy one of the scores of activities De Lenspolder is organising for children this summer on the beach or at the farm, or enjoy the ducks, goats, donkeys and all the other animals.
