TIP 3 - Comic strip adventures by the sea

Do you like reading Fanny & Co? Or are Jommeke, Spike and Suzy (Suske and Wiske) or Nero more your thing? Then you are in luck during your stay on the seaside.

Middelkerke is sometimes referred to as the comic strip capital of Flanders. In the summer, it is host to a major comic strip festival. But the comic book heroes are around the rest of the year, too. Wander along the sea front from Middelkerke to Westende and discover the bronze statues of an entire series of comic book characters. Do your kids recognize them?

Feel like some more comic strip adventures? Then wander on over to the Nys-Vermoote house. The spiritual father of van Jommeke, Jef Nys, spent part of his childhood here. The littlest ones will be delighted to find numerous drawings and can also try their hand in the interactive workshop.
