We (go-cart business Rodeo) still have the last amphibious boat on the Belgian Coast in our possession. A remnant of the war, a souvenir of the American Army. In days gone by, every beach from Northern France to Knokke had a boat like this. Some people claim that they actually went sailing on it in the 50s, together with their parents or grandparents. How’s that for nostalgia?
Eethuis Siska serves those scrumptious, and well-known, heart-shaped waffles. The story goes that during a trip to Amsterdam, Mother Siska spotted a waffle iron with 5 little hearts on a painting. No sooner home than she got her brother-in-law, a smith, to make her one just like it. Ever since, heart-shaped waffles have been standard fare at Siska's table.
This family-run hotel has been welcoming holidaymakers on the Belgian Coast for well over 45 years. And a true family business it is! Up to a few years ago, André and his wife, Jenny, ran the hotel. Since then, the torch has been passed on to their two daughters, Sofie and Hannelore, who now run the family business with the same passion as their parents. Thanks to the special family packages, families are guaranteed a marvellous time here.
