Midget submarines

Did you know that the Germans used midget submarines during the war?

Most people will know what midget submarines look like because Professor Tryphon Sunflower in The Adventures of Tintin had one of them. The real one-man submarines were called Bibers (German for ‘beavers’). Like the German Schnellboten, Bibers could fire torpedoes. They were used as alternatives to the large submarines which were increasingly being defeated at sea.
