Nature reserve De Doornpanne


Doornpanne, Hoge Blekker and the Schipgatduinen (dunes) make up a 240 ha dune massif. Hiking and cycle trails criss-cross the reserve and allow you to enjoy the amazing scenery.

For a dash of culture, head for the Paul Delvaux museum, located in a former fisherman’s cottage, and feast your eyes on the masterpieces of this great artist. Or pop into Museum ‘t Krekelhof where you will find the most amazing collection of craft objects, curiosities and knick-knacks related to 19 forgotten trades. Jommeke fans will be able to meet their childhood hero at Huisje Nys Vermoote.

The Hoge Blekker dune, the coastline’s highest dune (33 m), which derives its name from the vernacular for a bare dune that twinkles in the sun (blekken = twinkle), makes for a lovely climb.

This Eco Golf course derives its name from Hof ter Hille, a farm surrounded by a canal the Dune Lords acquired during the 14th century which adjoined the golf course. The former farm now houses the current club house. Koksijde Golf Ter Hille welcomes both seasoned and less seasoned golfers.
