08:00 - On horseback

You must have seen the prawn fishermen on horseback at work. Each time that they are dressed in their yellow jackets to ride out on their sturdy cart horses to go prawn fishing, it's always a party.

Fresh seafood on your plate. You need to rise early to see the fishermen come ashore. Take a look in the fishing ports of Zeebrugge, Ostend, and Nieuwpoort or hurry to the fish market in Ostend.

12:00 - Heritage with Taste

Ostend has a rich history, Heritage with Taste. At various locations there are historic buildings, which take us back to the glory days of Ostend and, moreover, where you can savour a delicious meal.


13:00 - Authentic places

The Coast has a whole collection of authentic places. From an old fishermen's pub in Zeebrugge over the tavern De Peerdevisscher in Oostduinkerke to the no-nonsense Stad Kortrijk in Ostend.

Ice creams, waffles, and Berlin boules – the sea has a sweet taste. Nowhere else can you find so many  ice cream salons, ice cream vans, waffle tents, and beach vendors with those irresistible Berlin boules.

10:00 - Sea of Taste routes

The brand new Sea of Taste routes will show you the way to the tastiest places on the Coast. Delightful places where you can enjoy a five-course meal or have a stop to taste farm and regional products.

12:00 - Classics

With the hand-prepared prawn croquettes and tomato prawn, some classics are so good and so full of taste that you just can't resist them. And so, enjoy those delicious coast classics to the full one more time.

Feel like something else sweet? What about the tasty Babelutten, a traditional local sweet once made by fishermen's wives.

Other attractions

  • Time for a drink? Try a local beer. The Coast, too, can turn out scores of local Beers, such as Pier Kloeffe, Ostend Kleyte beer, Oud Mannekensvere, and Roste Jeanne. Make sure you check out the Abbey Museum of the Dunes 1138 and a tasty Ten Duinen. This beer in combination with prawns is an absolute must.
  • Home-made cooking? In all coastal towns you will find various renowned fish shops where you will find tasty fresh fish and fish preparations. The enjoyment starts here!
  • To indulge your culinary taste at the Coast, you don't need to look far. There are no fewer than seven star restaurants which serve up the best in Belgian sea food: Le Fox** in De Panne, Ten Bogaerde* in Koksijde-Oostduinkerke, Philippe Nuyens* in Blankenberge, Bartholomeus*, Cuines33*, Jardin Tropical and Sel Gris* in Knokke-Heist. The Coast also does very well in Gault & Millau.
