5 reasons to go to the Belgian Coast this winter
Get out and about at the Belgian Coast this season and enjoy sand and sea in their wintry garb.
There’s lots to see and do.
Nothing beats a winter walk with a view of the sea
If you find it just wonderful to get rid of all your worries and cares along the waterline, on the beach or in the dunes, then you’ll surely enjoy the coastal trail (Kustwandelroute). Just decide where you’d like to go, what you’d like to see and just... go off! Don’t worry if you get a bit tired, because you can always take a quick breather on one of benches especially designed by Stefan Schöning or take the tram back if you can go no further. And to top it all off, you can warm up with a delicious cup of hot coffee, hot chocolate, or whatever else takes your fancy.
Top Tip! If you don’t feel like putting together your own route, then just take it easy with one of the walking loops.
Delicious and authentic Belgian waffles you’ll find nowhere else
A nice, crispy waffle is always good in winter, especially with the wonderful seaside in the background!
The Wall Street Journal recently came to explore the Belgian Coast and made their very own top 5 of greatest places to eat Belgian waffles.
Christmas shopping can be relaxing. And shops are open, even on Sundays!
Shopping at the Belgian Coast is always a little bit special, but the more so in winter, because shops are full of Christmas decorations, there is Christmas music in the streets, the beach is only around the corner... and everything is open on Sunday. So definitely go in search of that perfect dress, suit or present with no stress at all!
Top Tip! Stay overnight and make a weekend of it! Because a nice bed to sleep in combined with a relaxing visit to the shops is the best!
The cosy Christmas atmosphere is nowhere quite the same as at the Belgian Coast
The Belgian Coast oozes cosiness in winter. Add a sprinkling of Christmas magic to the seaside decor and you have the perfect backdrop for the holidays. Because there’s lots to see and do, with skating rinks, plenty of Christmas markets to enjoy culinary treats, firework displays, cool parties and much more. Certainly check out this year’s holiday calendar!
Or boost your energy with a brisk walk along the seafront.
It’s nowhere easier to boost your health
Whether you come alone, with the two of you or with the children, or the dog, the Belgian Coast is the perfect place to go for a vitamin boost in winter. The healthy sea air, the wonderful views and the walks or strolls along the beach or seafront will all energise you. Nowhere else are the oxygen and iodine purer or is it as delightful to just stare at the waves on a cold winter’s day warmly wrapped up. In short, the sea air is good for you and will boost your energy levels instantly!
